Nov. 29, 2010 - PRLog -- This is exactly the case with the NOKLA Copy, whose source of inspiration is (or should be) pretty clear. There have been quite a few knock-off phones released under this brand over the past couple of years, and one of the latest models is the E81-1, which doesn't really have anything in common with any of the Nokia phones we've seen on the market.

First and foremost, the Nokia E81-1 looks more like a tricorder from Star Trek rather than a smartphone, swiveling around a central point in order to reveal a full keyboard from underneath. The display (which does the swiveling trick) has a 2.4-inch diagonal size and 240 x 320 pixel resolution, while the whole device measures 69 x 69 x 14.5 mm, at an overall weight of just around 75 grams.

However, as far as the internals are concerned, we're apparently faced with the same “stock configuration” found in most knock-offs out there. Hence, the device may be built on an MTK platform, and, besides the usual features you'd expect from any modern smartphone (such as Bluetooth support, SMS/MMS support, etc.) the device also provides playback compatibility with a very large number of file types, whether we're talking about video, audio or photos.

There is one strange aspect, though, namely the fact that the NOKIA 8900E device only supports GSM 900/1800MHz networks, but I guess this somewhat explains the very low price point, of just 128 US dollars (or 880 Chinese Yuan).

There're two available colors of Nokia E81: Black with Xpress-on? Covers in black and purple packaged with the phone

The Nokia E81 has been tailored for easy and quick messaging on the move. Along with the full QWERTY keyboard, the Twist comes toting a customizable Contact Light Ring (yes, that jumbo button sat on the bottom right), letting you assign colours to identify calls and messages from folk in your contacts book. On the messaging front it also features threaded messages, as seen in the upcoming Nokia X3, to help you keep better track on active conversations. While email, IM, MMS and SMS are all ticked, the Nokia 8820 is also blog-savvy, enabling you to communicate with the world via a simple ‘post to blogs’ feature that also can fire out your snaps and text to social network sites.

Outside of its circle of messaging talents the Nokia E81 comes with a 3.0 megapixel camera in tow, with autofocus, flash and self-timer – the flat-edged design lets you stand it on its end, meaning you can capture group shots using the timer to ensure you’re in them too.
