A gastronomical Halloween bash

Oct. 14, 2010 - PRLog -- Tastour, the UK’s Wine Educator of the Year, makes meeting up with friends and learning about wine fun and easy.  The signature speedTASTING events, filled with one-liners and quirky facts, are all served alongside high quality food and drink.  Events are fun, informative, and - dare we say – one of the best places in London to meet like-minded people.  You can bring a date, your mates or come on your own - whether guests are single or partnered, it’s where people with good taste meet.  

Events range from educational food and drink tastings to exclusive dinners, recipe swaps, day trips and walking tours as well as monthly mini wine tastings and social networking drinks nights.

In only its second year, Tastour has beaten off stiff competition to win, not one, but two coveted places on the IWC Merchant Awards shortlist: ‘Wine Club of the Year’ and ‘Wine Educator of the Year.’  On 7th September, Tastour was crowned the UK’s ‘Wine Educator of the Year.’

Tastour Tip: Break the rules – when it comes to cheese, white wines match better than reds.  If you’re having goats cheese, try a crisp, mouth watering Sauvignon Blanc or, for the more adventurous, try a glass of Champagne with a mild cheddar or Gouda.

b.   Over the last 2 years, Tastour’s high quality weekly food and drink tasting events have become very popular: over 200 members have attended five events or more.  

i.   Members (known as ‘Tastourians’), are mainly cosmopolitan young professionals aged 25 to 45.  Interests include: travel, art and dining out. They consider the balance of learning and entertainment as a ‘perfect blend’.

ii.    Currently, membership is free and Tastourians only pay for events they attend.

iii.   A sample list includes: Bollinger fuelled day at Royal Ascot, learning about diamonds and Cristal Champagne, a distillery tour of Sipsmith, an English Rosé tasting in an English Rose garden, the history of afternoon tea, and introductory courses such as its flagship ‘How to taste wine without wasting time’ event. For those wanting to whet their appetite, the monthly mini-wine tasting for only £5 is a good initiation.
