Follow on Google News | A Queen For All SeasonsThis past holiday weekend, the Miss Brooklyn Scholarship Organization crowned a new titleholder. Christina Moore, a Bensonhurst native and junior at Wagner College, brought poise, confidence and talent to take the title of Miss Brooklyn 2011.
By: Tamara Walker “I am a true Brooklynite, born and raised, and I feel I am a strong representation of this wonderful borough,” says the new Miss Brooklyn. “ I am a driven and motivated person with a passion for the arts. My goal is not to just hold the title but to use the crown to strengthen my community, bring awareness to the Sarcoma Alliance, and make Brooklyn proud.” Promoting a platform of “Performers with a Purpose,” Brining Sarcoma Awareness to Center Stage (which has her working with the Sarcoma Alliance), Christina brought poise, confidence and talent to the Brooklyn crown, which was passed on from outgoing queen, Mallory Hagan of Bedford Stuyvesant. Ironically, Moore competed against Hagan for the 2010 title. An active member of both her college and neighborhood communities, Christina Moore, an Arts Administration Major/ Dance Minor, is a member of the National Honor Society, Arista Honor Society (an arts honor society), President of the Tri-M Music Society, a member of the nationally ranked Wagner College Dance Team and the United States Dance Team. The new Miss Brooklyn wants to bring her passion for dance and her platform to schools throughout Brooklyn and city to teach the importance of the arts and making a difference in the lives of Sarcoma victims. “The competition was fierce this year, and featured more Brooklynites than ever,” said Amaris Acosta. “We are proud of the talent that we attracted & showcased this year, and look forward to showing what Brooklyn is made of at Miss New York in June.” For more information about the Miss Brooklyn Scholarship Organization or their titleholders, please visit www.missbrooklyn.org.
