Sept. 1, 2010 - PRLog -- The Young Minority Ethnic Awards Scotland 2010 ceremony is now to take place at the beginning of December 2010 at Dundee’s Caird Hall. The awards ceremony is a platform for the dynamic and inspirational minority ethnic youth of Scotland, showcasing their successes and achievements.

The awards highlight the value of those young people from ethnic backgrounds who have spread inspiration or have contributed to life within their community. The awards further aim to acknowledge, encourage, reward and – most importantly – promote the positive achievements of young Scots from minority ethnic backgrounds aged between 14 – 26 years.

Commenting on the awards, Yasmin Mahmood, Campaign Manager at Oceanic Consulting said: “To be organising such a great event which recognises the achievements of Scotland’s minority ethnic youth is an honour for us. Sadly, a lot of the time, the accomplishments of Scotland’s minority ethnic youth go unnoticed. The Young Minority Ethnic Awards Scotland was set up to break that mould. For the awards to be in their third year shows how successful they have been. Unfortunately, this year’s venue, the summer holidays, and Ramadan are all factors that have brought about the event’s postponement. I am thoroughly looking forward to meeting the youths in December whose peers felt their efforts have been well-deserved of a nomination.”

December’s ceremony will see plaudits being given for best: Arts Contribution, Sports Achievement, Friend of the Environment, Apprentice of the Year, Science, Technology & Engineering Initiative, Career Achievement, Future Political Force, Community Contribution, and the Bashir Ahmad Spirit of Scotland Award – named in memory of the late SNP politician.

Nominations will now remain open until Thursday 18th of November. To nominate someone you think deserves to be recognised for achievements displayed, please visit www.whozthedaddy.info for a nomination form and either email it to: nominations@whozthedaddy.info or post to: Young Minority Ethnic Awards Scotland, Oceanic Studios, Polar House, 20 Darnley Street, Glasgow G41 2SE.
