July 6, 2011 - PRLog -- This free event took place at M&D’s within the grounds of Strathclyde Country Park.

Title sponsors, Lycamobile (2) promised to make this occasion bigger and better than the last – and they did not disappoint. Lycamobile reflected: “The Hungama Festival has grown significantly since its creation in 2009 and has become a key date in the Scottish summer entertainment calendar. This year’s Hungama Festival proved a huge success and we appreciate the importance of bringing communities together, allowing them to keep in contact with each other, and this event certainly allowed everyone to come together with friends and family for an enjoyable and entertaining day out.”

The event played host to a selection of exciting and eclectic performers in music and dance. The stage showcased the best in young, aspiring talent in Scotland hoping to make their own mark on the industry including local Glasgow talent such as Dharam Singh, Aero, G City rappers and up and coming band AOZ. The act headlining the event was London-based British-Indian vocalist Juggy D (3).

Juggy D is touted as one of the most prominent vocalists in the Asian music scene and has built a legion of fans as a result of touring the world for the past five years. He has built a collection of Awards and accolades, including winning ‘Best Act’ at the UK Asian Music Awards in 2006.

The event catered to lots of different tastes and there was an abundance of stalls to satisfy eager shoppers and satisfy the appetite of all those in attendance. Throughout the park, there was a host of booths selling secret trinkets, hidden gems, and authentic and traditional Asian clothing and jewellery. The event celebrated different culinary tastes and a selection of only the best in Asian cuisine offering a multitude of dishes and snacks to satisfy the cravings of all attendees.

The event presented an opportunity to raise awareness of and funds for charity partner The Well Foundation. The Well Foundation was established in 2008 with the primary objective to provide safe drinking water to some of the 1.1 billion people who lack access to clean water (4). Fahim Baqir, of the Well Foundation said: “The Well Foundation was set up to provide health and sanitation to developing world countries by providing them with safe, clean drinking water. At the Hungama Festival we raised nearly £400 and it gave us the chance to increase awareness of what it is we do and talk to people one on one to really inform them of the importance of providing such countries with clean drinking water.”

Amit Arora, Business Development Director at Oceanic Consulting commented, “Over 5000 people joined in with the festivities on Sunday and this is best turnout we have had at a Hungama Festival yet. The Scottish weather certainly did not disappoint, with the sun out to play with the rest of us. The festival itself acknowledged both the similar qualities in both Scottish and Asian cultures as well as highlighting their unique distinctions. The Asian cuisine proved a hit with everyone and the children enjoyed the thrill of rides, as a whole the day proved to be a huge success and we look forward to organising next year’s Hungama Festival.”
