Aug. 21, 2010 - PRLog -- (Plainfield, NJ – August 21, 2010)   Professional singer, songwriter and actress, Tenin Baba Ndanani, will join the list of music’s elites who have graced the stage at the longest running and most prestigious open mic night in the world when she performs live at The Village Underground on Sunday, August 22, 2010.  The Ron Grant & Friends Open Mic Showcase is known for the superior quality of the musicians who play and perform and is frequented by serious music-lovers and celebrities alike.  This will be Tenin’s inaugural performance at the Village Underground.

Born in New York City’s Harlem neighborhood, Tenin’s star began it’s rise when she sang her first solo in church as a little girl.  From then until now, Tenin continues to thrill audiences throughout the tri-state area with her passionate and often comedic stage performances.  She keeps busy!  Since July, Tenin completed Middlesex County (NJ) Plays-in-the-Park’s production of “The Wedding Singer”, is set to completing production of her first music video, “Head, Shoulders, Knees, Toes” on August 28th in Jersey City, NJ in support of the national Let’s Move! campaign to combat childhood obesity and is in rehearsals forThe Union County (NJ) Theatre Project’s production of “Crowns” premiering September 23-October 17, 2010.  Already this year, she opened the season at Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope, Pennsylvania reprising her role as Sylvia in “All Shook Up” for the second year in a row.

The daughter of teachers and a professional Gospel singer/musician mother, Tenin is a self-proclaimed “music mutt” who cut her teeth in the church choir and regional theatre.  Tenin’s style is a fusion of all of her experiences.   The serious and talented singer/songwriter says, “My music is fierce, uncensored and raw life—with Jesus.  At first, I went crazy trying to put myself into a genre, but it was limiting because the song came on their own in their own genre, so now I do music the way God gives it to me.  I aim to top R&B as well as Christian charts. “  Her main goal is to inspire people to live passionately and purposefully.

The Village Underground is located at 130 West Third Street, New York, NY.  Call (212) 777-7745 for information about the Sunday Night Open Mic.  Learn more about Tenin at her website, www.TeninWorld.com.
