April 18, 2011 - PRLog -- (NEW YORK, NY – April 18, 2011)   On April 21, 2011, friends, fans and the cast and crew of “Tucht: A Damn Near True Story” will gather at Drom in NYC to kick-off the film’s principal production with a party and fundraiser. Those who attend the kickoff party will be able to meet the cast and crew of "Tucht" and help kickstart the film’s $65,000 Indiegogo fundraising campaign. ASAOPE has committed 15% of funds raised to child-abuse prevention organizations including Children Without a Voice USA and Child Help.  Representatives from local and national child-abuse prevention organizations have been invited as special guests at the kick-off event, as well as members of the press.

Written and co-directed by Alex Molina of ASAOPE Filmz, “Tucht” is a raw and gritty psycho-thriller/dark-dramedy that delves unflinchingly into the issue of child abuse and its related consequential issues including physical and sexual abuse, mental illness, and suicidal depression.  “Tucht” is inspired by the four remarkable individuals upon whom the story’s main characters are based and shows the power of unconditional love to overcome even the most horrific of childhood abuses.

The star-studded, hand-picked cast and crew of “Tucht” will be on hand to welcome guests who will be treated to food, drinks and live entertainment to include members of the cast.  From all early indications, Executive producer Molina’s diligence in conducting an exhaustive search to select the cast and crew for this, his first, feature film production is paying off.

Already, “Tucht” is garnering impressive industry buzz.  The film’s stellar cast continues to grow with the recent addition of Joe D'Onofrio, star of “GoodFellas” and “Are You There Yet?“   Equally as impressive, award-winning playwright/director and NYC celebrity acting coach, John Pallotta, who coached Meryl Streep for a recent film role, is coaching the star of “Tucht” for her feature film debut.

“TUCHT” introduces Tenin Baba Ndanani in its lead role.  After three grueling days of casting last August, Molina declared, “Having auditioned some of the most gifted actors we've ever seen, including two Broadway ‘names’, the lead-female role in “Tucht” has been cast!”  Ms. Baba Ndanani, already a seasoned veteran of musical theatre throughout NY/NJ, emerged the unanimous favorite to play the lead.  A bright up and coming recording artist, Ms. Baba Ndanani will perform live at the kick-off event.

Brazilian-born, award-winning director, Moema Umann serves as a directorial consultant on the  project.  In 2010, Ms. Umann was nominated as best supporting actress at the World Music and Independent Film Festival and recently received the award for Best Female Director at the American International Film Festival for her short film, Before Breakfast.  The short was recently picked up by the Cannes Film Festival.
