Aug. 17, 2010 - PRLog -- The Young Minority Ethnic Awards Scotland 2010 ceremony returns once again on Thursday 26th August 2010 at Dundee’s Caird Hall to act as a platform for the dynamic and inspirational minority ethnic youth of Scotland, showcasing their successes and achievements. Joining Oceanic Consulting as to celebrate these remarkable individuals is UK-based charity Save the Children.

The aim of this event is simple: to highlight the value of those young people from ethnic backgrounds who have stirred inspiration or have contributed to life within their community. The awards further aim to acknowledge, encourage, reward and – most importantly – promote the positive achievements of young Scots from minority ethnic backgrounds aged between 14 – 28 years.

The event will also be an opportunity for people to find out about the work undertaken by Save the Children. Operating in over 50 developing countries, the charity has helped millions of children since its inception in 1919, more recently helping victims of the flooding that has devastated Pakistan.

Nicola Sinclair, Community Fundraising Executive at Save the Children said: “When an emergency strikes, Save the Children leap into action immediately, so that we can reach the children and families caught up in the disaster as quickly as possible. We want the UK public to leap into action too. We know there are thousands of superheroes out there who can raise vital funds to help Save the Children scale up in an emergency.

“We have ambitious plans, we desperately want to reach more children and save more lives in an emergency and we need funds as soon as a disaster strikes so we can get out there straight away and start to help the families affected. And we can’t do this without the UK public’s help. Schools, friends, colleges or people at the local supermarket can all help raise money.”

Commenting on the event, Yasmin Mahmood at Oceanic Consulting said: “The work that Save the Children does for impoverished children worldwide is incredible and we fully support the organisation. We think the Young Minority Ethnic Awards Scotland 2010 will be a great way to spread the word on the work Save the Children do and to rally up more people for their campaigns.”
