Kleinhandler Campaign Commits Libel - Falsely Accuses Republican Rival of Felony Crime

July 29, 2010 - PRLog -- In a mass mailing sent by the Kleinhandler campaign to hundreds of registered Republicans signed by Republican Chairman, Vincent Reda's former administrative secretary, Retired BG Arthur Jackson, accused Republican Candidate for the NY 17th Congressional District, Anthony Mele, of fraudulently wearing a military decoration for heroism and committing a federal crime.  A copy of the actual citation awarded by the US Army and narration of the action are available at:  www.meleforcongress.com

STATEMENT BY ANTHONY MELE:

"Political speech is the most protected form of free speech.  I may not agree with it but I will defend with my life any opponent's right to speak it.  However, slander and libel are not protected forms of free speech.  I will let Mr. York J. Kleinhandler's genius brain-trust resolve whether saving a life from death under treacherous conditions was an act of Valor or Stupidity. In the meantime, I will continue my campaign to solve the serious problems facing our Nation and advance the virtues of Republicanism.  If you are like me, we believe my reward comes from a higher authority."
