July 27, 2010 - PRLog -- No matter what your politics or feelings about conservation, one way or the other the costs of energy has to be controlled.  The costs reach far beyond what you pay for fuel, and extend to taxes you pay for others to use fuel, and then again to the costs to clean up the waste.  Whether the globe is cooling or warming or neither need not even be considered to know that all hands need to be on deck to find ways of reducing the total cost.

There are three ways to do so.  One is to use less by virtue of cutting down on our lifestyle.  No one wants to do that.  In fact, the world seems headed towards a vast increase in lifestyles for second and third world nations, and who would want to deny them that.

Two is to find much more fuel from low cost, low pollution, and replaceable sources.  Certainly the world seems bent on doing this.  But there are economic barriers to success.  Variations in costs for various methods mitigate against the development of some types of new resources.

Three is to conserve.  More efficient appliances, lightbulbs, vehicles, and other huge consumers of energy are already contributing to significant drops in the use of certain fuels per capita.  The potential for additional savings is massive.

Enter the business of Eco Architecture.  Marcos Santa Anna is the owner of Alloi Inc., a Los Angeles based architectural firm.  His company works hard to incorporate as many eco friendly systems into the homes and retailers that they design:  "We call ourselves Alloi for a reason.  An alloy is the combination of two elements to make a new material.  Our goal is to combine great looking and stylish architecture with materials, design, and systems that will radically reduce the energy and water consumption of a home or business."

We do this through such techniques as geothermal energy, photovoltaic panels, water conservation composting toilets, graywater recycling systems, low voc paint, natural daylighting, biometrics, and hi performance building envelopes."

What does all of this mean?  Marcos Santa Ana will explain more about many of these approaches to helping conserve at a talk on Wednesday, July 28th.  The talk will be presented at the Leads Business Referral Club in the Marina Del Rey at 7:30 a.m.  The club meets at Panini's Coffee and Cafe 4325 Glencoe Avenue
Marina Del Rey, CA 90292-6444
