July 23, 2010 - PRLog -- The main feature of the innovative Dream Noiseless guitar is that it is fitted with an Entwistle Noise Reduction (ENR) Noiseless Rez-o-Matik® pickup, which has been developed by Alan Entwistle of Entwhistle Electronics over the last ten years. This new noiseless pickup has already been fitted to the Apache Special Noiseless model.

Alan Entwistle has spent over 35 years hand-winding custom pickups. Since 1974, with his wealth of experience, research and technical expertise, he has created a unique and innovative pickup. But it was not until this year, when Alan was finally satisfied he had developed a pickup that truly captured the unique single-coil tone structure characteristic of the Rez-o-Matik®, that it was fitted to two Burns Guitars models.

The main features of the Dream Noiseless model are the figured maple top and figured maple neck with 22 frets, instead of the standard 21, and is available in three finishes: trans-red, trans-blue and red-burst.

Burns has also released the new Apache Noiseless Special guitar, which has an alder body finish in white polyester or transparent red. It has 5-star figured maple neck with an ebony fingerboard and pearl binding, with the word Apache inlaid in mother or pearl in the 12th fret. It also comes with Burns Rez-o-Matik® Noiseless Pickups and has the Apache symbol engraved on the Rez-o-Tube® tremolo plate.

According to Alan Entwistle on noiseless pickups: "Achieving a true single-coil sound such as our standard Rez-o-Matik® in a noiseless format is not simply achieved by making a stack coil pickup.

"Most noiseless 'single' coils use two coils of the same dimensions mounted vertically in a single coil cover. The problem with this idea, however, is that the top coil is considerably smaller than a standard size single coil, thus to achieve the same level of output as a single it must be wound with a much finer gauge of winding wire than one normally uses on a single coil. This, unfortunately, changes the overall sound and dynamics of the pickup considerably, and the true 'glassy' transparency of a single coil is lost.

"What we have done at Burns and Entwistle Elecronics is to take a full standard size Rez-o-Matik® single coil, using exactly the same type of Alnico magnets, wound the wire gauge and then applied ENR technology to this by means of a specially wound smaller canceller coil that sits directly beneath the original Rez-o-Matik® single. The result is a true Vintage Rez-o-Matik® sound without all the noise."

Jim Burns, often described as the "British Leo Fender", founded Burns Guitars, and was an early pioneer of making the finest quality guitars. He employed a policy of continual development and refinement, reflecting a constant quest to realise his vision of the ideal electric guitar. Today, Barry Gibson runs Burns Guitars London.

It is interesting to note that Burns guitars are made from British beech and sycamore and use sawmills that support the Timber Trust Federation (TTF) Forests Forever campaign.

Players of Burns guitars include The Shadows, Elvis Presley, Billy Bragg, Mark Knopfler, Brian May, Jet Harris, Earl Slick and Ray Dorset. Burns guitars are distributed all over the world.

The Dream Noiseless guitar is not available until November, but orders can be placed by contacting us via our website.
