Starting From Scratch: The Art of Storytelling Writing Workshops at Laguna Beach Books

June 24, 2010 - PRLog -- Do you have stories to tell but hesitate to start? Or just need feedback on something new or revised? Experienced and novice writers are invited to be a part of a new writing community.

This writing workshop for any form is aimed at helping participants move forward with their writing. As time allows, the idea of how setting, theme, character development, and dialogue work together to make an artful whole will be explored. Students will share parts of their writing and will be prepared to provide feedback as part of the workshop experience.

You can sign up for these workshops anytime by emailing Marjorie at  mpym.robertson@gmail.com by Monday, May 31. Please submit a piece of up to 3,500 words by July 11 (for the July workshop) and August 1 (for the August workshop). All participants will receive electronic copies of participant writing to review before the workshop date. Maximum five participants per workshop. Cost for each of these one-day workshops is $50.

About Marjorie Robertson:
For seven years Marjorie Robertson taught English and writing at universities and community colleges on the East Coast where she also earned her MFA in creative writing at George Mason University. Since 2008 she has taught English and communications at the University of California, Irvine. Two summers ago she received a scholarship to attend the Squaw Valley Writer’s Workshop. Her writing has been published in Inversion, Missouri Life, and The Sunday Journal. She is currently revising a novel.
