The CBSE on Wednesday declared the class XII results for Ajmer, Panchkula and Chennai regions. The results for the rest of the country, including Delhi region, will be declared on Friday.

June 18, 2010 - PRLog -- Eighteen-year-old Rishav Binayak Das could not have been happier. With a 97.2% aggregate, the student of Amity International School, Sector 43, has emerged as the topper in CBSE class XII results in Gurgaon. The CBSE on Wednesday declared the class XII results for Ajmer, Panchkula and Chennai regions. The results for the rest of the country, including Delhi region, will be declared on Friday.

Rishav, who is holidaying in Udaipur with his family, said over phone, ‘‘The day has brought such a pleasant surprise for me. I can’t believe I have scored 97.2%. This is much more than I had thought. I feel so relaxed, my mind is at peace now.’’

Rishav attributed the success to his teachers and parents. ‘‘I did not go for any tuition classes and depended completely on my school studies. The hard work and support of my teachers has paid off,’’ said the science student. His father, Debashish Das, works as an HR manager with a firm in Gurgaon while Rishav’s mother is a homemaker.

‘‘We are all jubilant and are our enjoyment has increased manifold ever since the results were declared. Now, I’m eagerly waiting for the IIT entrance results. I hope I will get through,’’ said Rishav, who lives in Hamilton Court and aspires to become a computer engineer. He is also interested in public speaking.

Rishav was closely followed by Leena Ahuja — a commerce student of DAV Public School, Sector 14 — who got 96.4%. School principal Anita Makkad was all praises for the 16-year-old girl. ‘‘She has always been regular and was a focused girl. She has done us proud,’’ Makkad said.

Leena’s father Jagdish Ahuja, a trader in Sector 4, said his daughter’s hard work had paid off. ‘‘Leena has always been very studious. But she has been equally good in extra-curricular activities,’’ he said.

Most schools in the city, meanwhile, reported 100% results. While Surabhi Batra from DPS, Sector 45 stood first in her school with 94.4%, the school topper from DPS, Maruti Kunj also got the same percentage.

In Faridabad, Gaurav Garg of Apeejay School stood first with 97% marks in the nonmedical stream. He is the second among two children. Gaurav’s father is an engineering graduate who is employed with BSNL, New Delhi as deputy general manager.

Gaurav was ecstatic when he checked his results in the morning, but it was his school principal S Samra who informed him of the distinct position he had got. The achiever, however, said he had not put too much hard work even as he never lost his focus. ‘‘I did join a coaching centre in New Delhi, but it was concentration more than labour that has helped me get such a good result,’’ he said.

Talking about his plans for the future, Gaurav said that he had already appeared in the AIEEE/IIT entrance tests and hopes to score a high rank in the merit list — just like the topper from Faridabad last year had bagged the first position. Meanwhile, Shweta Chopra from Sriram School has emerged as the ICSE class XII exams topper from Gurgaon with an aggregate of 97.75%.
