May 30, 2011 - PRLog -- THE stage at Delhi University ( DU) is set for cut- throat competition during the admission process this year.

While over 50,000 applicants will successfully make it to one of the colleges affiliated to DU, many will be disappointed.

For those keen on keeping their options open, there are other state and private universities in and around the Capital that offer academic (http://www.indiaacademic.com) and professional programmes at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Even as the admission process at Jamia Millia Islamia and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University nears completion, institutions like Ambedkar University ( AUD), Delhi Technological University, Amity University ( Noida and Manesar) and Manav Rachna International University are currently inviting applications.

AMBEDKAR UNIVERSITY

The country’s only varsity focused exclusively on research and teaching in the social sciences and humanities — opened admission to its UG and PG programmes on May 20.

The UG programmes are unique as a student, at the end of three years, has the opportunity to get a bachelors degree with a dual major with just an additional year of studying.

“ Though the medium of teaching at AUD is English, students from different mediums are also allowed to apply as the university runs bridge courses in English language,” said Professor AR Khan, dean, student services, AUD. Last date for submission of forms is June 20.

DELHI TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY

Delhi Technological University ( DTU), has introduced online registration for admission to the new academic year this time.

Admissions to the UG and PG courses will be done in three phases. The first phase starts from June 7 and will continue till June 15, during which aspirants will be allowed to register online.

In the second phase, from June 23 to June 29, eligible candidates will be allowed to indicate their subject preference.

In the final phase, allotment of seats will commence.

The first list of eligible applicants will be out in the first week of July.

AMITY UNIVERSITY, NOIDA AND MANESAR

With two campuses in the National Capital Region, Amity University offers students over 30 UG programmes and almost an equal number at the PG level.

Though the last date for submission of forms at Manesar was notified as June 1, Mehta said that this will be extended. Applicants will have to appear for an entrance exam for each course.

MANAV RACHNA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY

Though Manav Rachna International University runs several programmes, currently, it’s inviting applications for UG programmes in business administration, computer application, journalism and mass communication, media management, hotel management, animation and engineering.

Students can only apply online and Eligibility criteria differs for different courses and can been seen on http://www.indiaacademic.com
