| Postcode Anywhere Achieves International Standard for Data SecurityCloud provider meets stringent requirements to pass ISO 27001 accreditation
The standard outlines best practice for an Information Security Management System (ISMS), and sets rigorous requirements for data protection, particularly critical in areas of business such as the finance, health, public and IT sectors. Postcode Anywhere, whose suite of products includes UK and international address auto-fill, payment validation, route planning and mapping services, joins a select group of ISO 27001 accredited organisations including Microsoft, BT, Sun Microsystems and the United Nations. Along with Salesforce.com, it is one of very few ‘cloud computing’ or software-as- Postcode Anywhere’s managing director Guy Mucklow said: “Unprotected systems are vulnerable to a wide variety of threats, so it is essential when choosing a service provider that users are mindful of the security levels they’re offered. “Postcode Anywhere hosts over one billion separate data records from suppliers including Ordnance Survey, Dun & Bradstreet, Royal Mail, USPS and local government authorities, so we take our information security very seriously. “Without systems to safeguard against security breaches, users take a significant risk when they involve a third party with their data, particularly when that data includes sensitive information or payment details. “Ultimately, using a data specialist with a trusted independent accreditation such as ISO 27001 is the only way to be sure your solutions provider has a system in which you can place genuine confidence. “With more and more businesses, and now government, looking at migrating infrastructure into the cloud to reduce costs and increase efficiency, data security is increasingly high on the agenda – and our accreditation demonstrates that we meet this need. “Moreover, one of the advantages of our cloud-based model is that even small businesses, using low volumes of Postcode Anywhere’s services, can enjoy the same security standards as our larger clients. “Along with other innovations – such as supplying daily Royal Mail PAF® updates as standard for our UK address products – Postcode Anywhere continues to lead and push the data services industry for superior security, higher-quality data, and increased customer satisfaction.” Postcode Anywhere was approved to meet ISO/IEC 27001:2005 by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance Limited, an organisation accredited by The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS). The ISMS accreditation is applicable to the “provision of verification, recording and maintenance of accurate data using hosted or local web services.” To find out more about Postcode Anywhere’s range of services, please visit www.postcodeanywhere.com.
