Website and YouTube Video Get Local DC Cafe Featured on the Food Network

May 12, 2010 - PRLog -- Tortilla Cafe announced that the restaurant will be featured in an upcoming episode of Guy's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on the Food Network. "It's been an exciting time for us here at the cafe' and we can't wait until it airs," says Tortilla Cafe Manager, Catalina Canales.  The surprise announcement by the Food Network came after Canales received a phone call from one of the producers stating they had seen the restaurant's website and YouTube video at www.tortillacafe.com.  "We pride ourselves on our authentic Mexican-El Salvadorian food and our handmade Pupusas and I think that got their attention online," says Canales.  The restaurant had just recently started using their website and video to promote the cafe.  The taping of the episode took place at the Tortilla Cafe last week and an air date has yet to be determined.

The Tortilla Cafe is located at one of DC's hotspots for tourism, the Historic Eastern Market, and is owned by Jose' Canales. Mr. Canales also owns Canales Deli, located just inside Historic Eastern Market. After running a successful business for 18 years, Mr. Canales saw an opportunity to establish Tortilla Café. When the location on 210 7th Street came up for lease, Mr. Canales took a chance of establishing another successful business. Tortilla Café would offer real authentic ethnic Latin American cuisine from El Salvador, Mr. Canales’s country of origin, and Mexico, creating his own distinctive dishes.
