April 26, 2010 - PRLog -- For many years, since 1947, in fact ,Trash & Treasure has been a landmark antique shop in Houston, being a frontrunner during the oil boom of the 50s. It is the only one we know of still running after all these years, making it the oldest antique shop in Houston.

Now there is new division in the business, Turningleaf Furniture, selling modern, contemporary, and reproduction furniture, as well as art, mirrors, and other home decor.

Combine this new merchandise with the unique and wonderful antiques, and this is a great hunting grounds with Interior Designers and bargain hunters both in mind. It is called Turningleaf Furniture, the owner says, because turning is involved in making furniture legs, and leaves are often in tables, but also because of the 'turning over a new leaf' concept. The goal, says owner Gordon Greenleaf, is to 'out-dump' The Dump, out 'save-you-money' the mattress guy, and give you a way better deal than the Buy Direct people.

The website  turningleaffurniture.com  shows all the furniture that the showroom doesn't have room for.  They also have a page on Facebook, and specials are sometimes offered to FB fans.

The shop is open Wed thru Sunday Noon-to-Five and by appt.  If you can't be there by 5pm, the owner says call 832-526-0125 and he will stay open for you.

For more than 60 years Houston has had a landmark antique shop in The Antique Warehaus/Trash & Treasure. Many of Houston's elite in the oil boom of the 50s came here to buy and sell and have their treasures appraised.  It has been an antique store since 1947.

They have coffee tables, bedroom sets, dining tables, counter height table and chairs, barstools, lamps, mirrors, all the things you'd expect in a furniture store.  And they also have the coolest unusual antique items to mix in with your modern furniture.  They also offer 5% off for cash, even if the item is already on sale.

Houston's oldest and most interesting antique shop, Antique Warehaus/Trash &  Treasure has gradually been transforming itself, or turning over a new leaf. They have a great selection of modern and reproduction furniture that fits in just fine with or without antiques.

In 2010 some trends started to change. People are buying online more and more. They are also supporting their local economy by patronizing their local small businesses. At Turningleaf Furniture Houstonians can do both, and save money in the process.
