DORMAN DAVID
Dorman is a mutlitalented man whose very life is a form of art.
He was born in 1937 in Houston, Texas. A boxer in the military, in 1960 he moved to San Francisco, and while there, worked in a rare book store. During this time Dorman began a correspondence with Aldus Huxley, who was teaching at Berkeley. In 1961 he returned to Houston and opened the Bookman, Houston's first rare bookstore. There he employed the young Larry McMurtrey, who mined material from the legendary David family for several novels, including Cadillac Jack and Terms of Endearment. By 1968 the Bookman was the premiere Texana store in the state. During the 1960s Dorman also acquired an interest for Texas historical documents. He reprinted an 1883 Texas cookbook and developed techniques and materials that resulted in near-perfect replicas of historic Texas documents. In the 1980s Dorman began making small, but powerful, carvings with rare wood, painting with watercolors and creating decorative handwriting.  Dorman has lived in California, Australia, Mississippi, Louisiana and Arizona. Back in Houston he has worked as an artist and studio instructor at the College of Architecture at the University of Houston.  He is a conservator of local culture through his enormous collection of family photo albums that he draws from for many of his Facebook posts.   http://www.dormandavid.com

FRED TURTON
Born 1939 in Atlantic City, NJ, Frederick W. Turton  was an army photographer, a videographer for Shell oil, and has created a most unusual collection of Christmas cards depicting a disturbed and disturbing Santa.
It wasn't easy cajoling the infamous founding father of the Montrose Beer & Gun Club, longtime bartender at Rudyard's,( where several of his paintings hang), talented dart thrower, and philanthropist Fred Turton to show some of his art. His chronicles of the Montrose Beer & Gun Club have brightened the pages of Public News, The Houston Other, and for many years have been heard Saturdays at 1 pm on The Spare Change Show w/ Larry Winters on radio station KPFT....and still are! http://www.montrosebeerandgunclub.com
MBGC, his hobby turned charity has raised somewhere in the neighborhood of $100,000 for the Make-A-Wish foundation since 2001.

TARA JORDAN-GREENLEAF
Tara is a local houston artist, who has been painting and drawing since she was a child in the 1960s.  She has also designed and made jewelry, pottery, designed unique antique furniture finishes, worked as a designer for shops, and window displays and art director for weddings. She continues to work on her unique style of acrylic 'sculpture' on canvas.  At recent showing she had great sales even though over 20 of her paintings were destroyed by fire in late 2010.  Her 3-D art style is especially compelling and has led to shows at Elder Street Gallery, Watson Gallery, First Saturday Heights Arts Festival
and the New Home and Garden Show at Reliant Center.
Since her and her husband's business burned down in October of 2010, she relies more on her art sales. http://www.tarajordan-greenleaf.web.officelive.com

JUDY MALONE-STEIN
Judy teaches art to young people, has made several 'Art Cars', and is a longtime wardrobe specialist for the Houston Opera and other theater companies.
She paints, makes jewelry, murals, art cars, and just about any medium you can mention.
By introducing the art of mobile making, she teaches troubled teens about the importance of creating balance in their lives, inspired by the work of Alexander Calder. Judy's philosophy is that for every action there is a reaction, with every choice comes a consequence, and the best lesson of all, because these youth are going through a very hard time in their lives right now, a reminder that for every down there is always an up!

TRACY TRI-COASTAL PIERCE
Different Directions...
Tracy has a gypsy spirit, to say the least, hence the 3 coasts she uses in her FB persona. In her travels, she always pick things up along the way. Something discarded or shiny, colorful, rusted..She takes it home and gives it a purpose.  A lost and found sort of thing. She is a trained lithographer and graphic designer, but never really cared for working in those fields and decided to go in a different direction. This was also influenced by the fact that she moved around a lot, and one local charm varies from the next. I gather these thoughts and pieces and try to convey a cohesive journey…..
some of her delightful Facebook posts reveal Tracy's beautifully sardonic mind.
Here are just a few...
"I'm hungry. I'll check the fridge. Now, the freezer. Back to the fridge. Maybe if I open both at the same time and put a hand on my hip."  or...
"'To be or not to be' is hardly ever the question."   or...
" People can't cheat death; they must beat him fair and square in a fiddle-playing competition." (LIKE BUTTON)

TALLY KINGHORN is an "on premise" marketing agent for Pabst Brewing Company, and is often seen at just about any fundraiser, event or art show in the fringe of the Houston social world.  Self described "Beer lover, fun broker, artist, ringleader, and jukebox heroine. I'm a lover not a fighter, unless you are an ass and dont tip your bartender. Charm me with your wit and maybe I'll buy you a Lone Star (or a PBR or Schlitz for that matter!)"  Tally is also into urban art and artists and can always be found supporting local music, art and creativity.

GORDON GREENLEAF
...has new and old photographs from 1970 to the present day.
While working for the Army in Oberammergau, Germany, Gordon discovered darkroom techniques in an on-base facility.
What began with a Brownie Bullet camera in childhood, was now fueled by a
fascination with the darkroom.
His obsession led to a darkroom technician job at Cream Studios in London, a full service commerical art studio servicing Saatchi and other major advertising companies.
Living in London and Paris for a decade, he honed his skills with a 35mm camera as well as medium and large formats.
Recent shows have helped put a photographic life spanning over 35 years, back in ....well... perspective.
His photos depict scenes from the eery to the sublime. Long before the current trend back to plastic cameras, Greenleaf was never afraid to express himself with a fixed lens, polaroid, or disposable camera, in the belief that the eye makes the art and the camera is just the brush that is used, each with it's own style.
