Osbert Hood ’86 Elected To Adelphi University Board Of Trustees

Adelphi University has elected Osbert Hood ’86 to its Board of Trustees. He will serve on the Academic Affairs and Student Life committees. As chairman and chief executive officer of MacKay Shields, LLC, an investment advisory firm.

March 24, 2010 - PRLog -- Adelphi University has elected Osbert Hood ’86 to its Board of Trustees.

He will serve on the Academic Affairs and Student Life committees. As chairman and chief executive officer of MacKay Shields, LLC, an investment advisory firm that manages approximately $45 billion in assets, Mr. Hood has been responsible for the daily management of the firm and the implementation of its strategic initiatives since 2007.  

“I look forward to working with the other Trustees to contribute to Adelphi University’s continued growth and hallmark of being committed to the region and its students, faculty, and staff,” said Mr. Hood. “It’s an honor to join the Board of Trustees who shares very high standards for the University.”

“I am delighted to welcome Osbert Hood to the board,” said Adelphi University Board of Trustees Chairman Thomas F. Motamed ’71.  “His track record of significant accomplishment in the financial services arena coupled with his outstanding leadership will provide even greater depth to the board.”

Prior to joining MacKay Shields, Mr. Hood held leadership positions as chief operating officer, then chief executive officer for Pioneer Investment Management USA. In addition, he worked at John Hancock Financial Services for a decade, where his positions included executive vice president and chief financial officer of John Hancock Advisors. He began his professional career at American Express, spanning a period of 13 years.

Mr. Hood received his M.B.A. degree from New York University and his bachelor’s degree in science from Adelphi University. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Wharton Business School’s Advance Management Program and holds three types of National Association Securities Dealers (NASD) licenses.
