Dec. 11, 2009 - PRLog -- Whether you choose to ring in the New Year by enjoying a multi-course, sit-down dinner prepared by one of Southern California’s hottest young chefs or a more casual approach featuring a sumptuous buffet dinner on a rooftop terrace, Michael’s On Naples will prove to be an ideal destination for your end-of-year celebration.  The popular restaurant, which recently was named Long Beach’s #1 by the prestigious Zagat Guide, is offering two seatings and two distinct experiences.
Priced at $110 per person, the sit-down dinner begins at 7 p.m. with cocktail hour on the rooftop terrace where guests will be served a drink of their choice invited to enjoy tray-passed hors d’oeuvres and a seafood ice bar including oysters on the half shell, grilled prawns and cocktail sauce, opah crudo with tangerine gele, smoked salmon with crème fraiche, spicy tuna tartar, lobster salad with chickpeas and carrots, clams on the half shell and mussel and cannelloni beans salad.  Guests will adjourn downstairs for the sit-down dinner starting with cured foie gras and fig jam followed by smoked scallops and a duck confit ravioli with pistachios, shallots and Parmigiano Reggiano.  Next, guests will enjoy Branzino carved tableside followed by an entrée of braised oxtail, orange glazed sweetbreads and grilled prime beef.  Capping off the meal, an Italian Cioccolato al Boccaccio.
Those opting for a more casual experience may reserve a space for the 8:30 p.m. seating upstairs where guests will be served a drink of their choice and enjoy tray-passed hors d’oeuvres and seafood bar after which an elaborate buffet will be served for $75 per person.  A number of pastas including orecchiette pasta with fennel sausage and rapini, mushroom raviolis and lasagna will be served alongside a carving station featuring rack of veal roast, Chianti marinated beef brisket and pistachio encrusted salmon.  A number of sides like cream polenta, potatoes basted in olive oil and grilled eggplant will be available as will such desserts as mixed tarts and cannolis.
Space is limited and reservations are strongly recommended (562) 439-7080.
Situated in the heart of picturesque Naples Island -- Long Beach’s most exclusive neighborhood -- Michael’s on Naples has developed a devoted clientele fierce in their loyalty of the restaurant.  No stone was left unturned in its design and construction and no expense is spared in its day-to-day operations. The restaurant is committed to the Slow Food Movement, a concept that reinforces the connection between “planet, plate and palate” and is designed protect the heritage, tradition and culture of food (i.e., herbs and spices are fresh and never bottled, produce is organic and secured from local farmers, meats are organic and come from small-scale providers).
