Oct. 7, 2009 - PRLog -- On Thanksgiving Monday (October 12) from 12:00 to 2:30 p.m., Good Shepherd Centre (412 Queen Street East) will be preparing a festive meal for the needy in our community. The meal is served free of charge.

Over the past year, Good Shepherd Centre has seen a 46% increase in demand for meals. In 2008, we served an average of 800 meals and snacks per day. This year, we are serving an average of 1,100 per day.

As a result, the Centre is preparing to serve 1,400 meals this Thanksgiving. Guests will enjoy a roast turkey dinner with gravy, cranberry sauce, rolls and butter, followed by apple pie. Flowers have been donated to decorate the dining room, and more than 50 volunteers will help serve guests.
