| Father's Day Tipple... And Just DesertsA chocolate-maker in Portishead has produced a special treat for West Country dads on Father’s Day – truffles infused with cider or Butcombe beer.
By: Empica The special recipe has been invented by chocolatier Yvonne Dutton of Chocolate One in Portishead so that dads can enjoy the taste of their favourite tipple in chocolate form. The truffles can be bought individually or in a special cocoa-pod box that is completely edible as it is entirely made of chocolate. Said Yvonne Dutton: “I wanted to produce something different and cider is the drink of the West Country and Butcombe Beer is also very popular so I experimented and came up with the truffles. “It is not a liquor so there is not a liquid centre – the drinks actually flavour the chocolate. I have also produced a whisky truffle for those who prefer shorts to the traditional West Country drinks. “The Cocoa pod is exactly the size and dimensions of the pods from which chocolate is made and I have made it in both dark and milk chocolate with orange coloured butter to give it that authentic look. “For Mother’s Day we produced an eco-box where the chocolates came in an edible box and this is a development for the men.” Cocoa pods filled with truffles of the buyers choice sell at £15 while boxes of truffles cost £4.50. Yvonne Dutton has also produced a new Dessert range of chocolates – each a mini version of favourite dessert. They include lemon meringue, tiramisu, apple crumble, crème brule, sticky toffee pudding and bananas and custard. Chocolate One opened its first shop in Portishead a few months ago and has proved a success with Yvonne Dutton now employing two other people. Her next move will be to create single source chocolate bars – the chocolate-lovers equivalent of a single malt whisky. Chocolate One is in Phoenix Way, Portishead telephone: 01275 817 961 End
