May 12, 2010 - PRLog -- The region’s leading automotive academy is launching a new apprentice agency scheme that will enable garages to hire people to work at their garage.

The first of its kind in the UK, the scheme is called the Apprentice Training Agency (ATA) and is being launched by S&B Automotive Academy in Bedminster.

It works where by garage owners will be able to choose from a bank of apprentices who have trained at the academy and who fit in with the garage’s requirements. The garage then pays the academy a hire fee for that person’s time.

The new scheme will mean garage owners will not have to employ the person involved, reducing costs dramatically. At the same time it provides them with a very flexible resource as they will be able to hire as and when they need extra hands as well as a wide choice of who they hire.

From an apprentice point of view, it gives them real time experience of working in a garage environment and the chance to put into practice what they have learnt at the country’s leading automotive academy.

The scheme is due to launch in September 2010 and the academy is now looking for garages from across Bristol to sign up.

Richard Pope, sales manager at S&B Automotive Academy said: “This is a fantastic idea and will enable garages and garage owners the chance to take on highly trained apprentices at vastly reduced costs.

“Being the first in the country to launch such a scheme again demonstrates S&B Automotive Academy’s ability and commitment to lead the way in apprentice training and we’re looking forward to signing up as many garages from across the greater Bristol area.

“As the country tentatively comes out of recession many businesses are mindful of their overheads. What this new scheme does is allow businesses to take on board apprentices without the added burden of having to pay their wages.”

The launch of the scheme will initially apply to garages which provide body and paint repairs and light vehicle mechanical repairs with apprentices who have trained in these two areas being available for hire. It is then planned to roll out the scheme into other areas.

Richard added: “I can’t stress how good a scheme this will be and want as many garages and garage owners to sign up.”

For those interested in further details a series of open day presentations are being held in the run up to the scheme’s launch with the next taking place on Thursday 27 May at 6.30pm.

Taking place at the academy’s HQ in Bedminster they will provide those interested with further details on the scheme and allow them to see the facilities which are regarded as being one of the best in the country.

Anyone interested in coming along to the presentation should ring the academy on 01179 533001 and ask for Gemma or send an e-mail ggoodwin@sandbaa.com
