Follow on Google News | In The Business Of Making BabiesA husband and wife team has relocated one of the country’s leading providers of fertility equipment to the area.
Mohan and Pam Punian, both Pharmacists from Berkswell, have completed the buyout of in vitro fertilisation (IVF) equipment suppliers Rochford Medical. After completing the purchase from founder Jenny Vince, the pair have stayed true to their Coventry roots by relocating the company from its previous base, in Oxford, to the University of Warwick Science Park’s Venture Centre, in Coventry. Jenny Vince will remain as an advisor to the company, which provides specialist IVF products used for techniques such as cryopreservation, fertilisation , embryo growth and pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD). Rochford Medical was set up in 1992 and sources IVF equipment from manufacturers in Europe, the USA and Australia, before distributing the products nationally to hospitals and clinics. The duo formerly operated a number of successful pharmacies in and around Coventry but recently decided to look for a new challenge. And when acquaintance Jenny Vince announced her decision to retire from Rochford Medical the chance to takeover ticked all the boxes. Managing director Mohan said: “We were at a stage where we wanted to take on something different. “This seemed like the ideal opportunity for us as it allowed us to remain in a field which is science-based while at the same time offering new challenges. “This is a company in a growing industry that is developing all the time, and it has been doing well despite the economic conditions, so we are very optimistic for the future. “Embryologists are striving to make every couples dream of having a baby come true, we at Rochford Medical are pleased to serve their needs with the excellent facilities available to us at the Venture Centre.” Rochford Medical owns an estimated 35 per cent of the market share and has experienced an 18 per cent increase in turnover every year for the last three years. The Pharmacist couple intend to use their Pharmaceutical expertise to add an On-line Pharmacy division supplying prescription fertility hormonal products directly to patients as well as IVF Centres. The company also has plans to branch into Scotland and Ireland and could potentially create new jobs in the future. Angela Childs, of the University of Warwick Science Park’s Venture Centre, said: “We are delighted that we can attract developing businesses such as Rochford Medical to the site. “Mohan and Pam are already highly successful business people and it is a great credit to the centre’s facilities and reputation that they have chosen to base their latest exciting project here.” ENDS Media enquiries: Simon Gilbert Advent Communications 2 Edison Building Electric Wharf Sandy Lane Coventry CV1 4JA Tel: 024 7663 3636 http://www.advent- # # # Advent Communications is a well-established public relations consultancy based in Coventry.
