Latest on Correlation Between Accelerated & Natural Weathering Presented at SAE Conference

A multi-corporation research team including Ford, BASF, Bayer and Q-Lab presented a series of technical papers at the SAE World Congress

April 21, 2009 - PRLog -- A multi-corporation research team including Ford, BASF, Bayer and Q-Lab presented a series of technical papers at the SAE World Congress.  The topics included the latest developments in automotive topcoat weatherability testing.

Years of cooperative research between Ford, BASF, Bayer and Q-Lab (http://www.q-lab.com) have led to a new understanding of the shortcomings of current test methods. The presentations focused on new techniques for characterizing the automotive service environment and on the development of new laboratory weathering techniques that accurately correlate lab results to actual field data.

The four presentations given were: Recent Developments in Acid Rain Resistance – Jeffery Quill, Q-Lab; Flaws in Accelerated OEM Topcoat Testing – Karen Henderson, Bayer; Importance of Water in the Weathering of Automotive Coatings - John Boisseau, BASF; Considerations in Designing Accelerated Weathering Tests – Mark Nichols, Ford.
