217 East Main Restaurant Welcomes Chef Veloso
Renowned chef adds his passion for flavor to local restaurant’s distinctive atmosphere
Through his extensive background in Cuban cuisine, Chef Veloso was able to make an immediate impact and launched Cuba Libre to a premiere place in the Philadelphia culinary scene and then in 2004 in Atlantic City. His career has taken him to many cities and has been featured on such television shows as Great Chefs of the South, Rising Star Chefs of America, Early Show on CBS, CNN, and Food Network, interviews on multiple radio and print media and has even led him to the culinary Mecca, James Beard House in 2006. Now, happy to be back in the heart of the Jersey Shore, Chef Veloso is working with 217 East Main to establish its place in the community and create culinary history by providing a full sensory dining experience set in a restored Victorian Masterpiece.
Chef Veloso will be bringing the restaurant into the spotlight by contributing to the 14th Taste of Southern Ocean Hunger Relief dinner on April 28. In conjunction with the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce, this event features the area’s finest chefs preparing courses to raise money for seven local food banks. 217 East Main will also be showcasing Chef Veloso’s talents during the Chamber’s Wedding Road Show on April 19. The stately restaurant will serve as one of the locations on a self guided tour that is bringing local and out of area brides to visit a series of open houses that provide wedding day services.
