Prince George's County Elected Official Visits Arbor

Prince George’s County Elected Official Visits Arbor Education and Training


Largo, MD – “Phenomenal!”, was the expression used recently by Linda Thomas, a member of the Prince George’s County School Board upon her recent visit to Arbor Education & Training. She stated that, “the work this organization is doing helps empower the citizens of the county and ultimately will break the cycle of poverty and hopelessness that often devastates our communities.”

Ms. Thomas, the first elected official to visit Arbor, had an opportunity to speak with staff and clients to discuss the educational and employment challenges faced by the citizens of Prince George’s County. They shared candid stories of with Ms. Thomas and gave her personal perspectives of how they feel they are treated by society. Leslie Wright, a participant in the Arbor program, shared her interests in furthering her education and becoming self sufficient. Ms. Thomas stated, “These residents of the county have the desire and the capacity to succeed. All they need is the opportunity. It is my goal and mission to make sure that these opportunities are available to every resident of Prince George’s County.”

Nicole Peters, Director of Arbor made this observation, “Ms. Thomas is both a strong advocate for education and for economic empowerment. Her visit to Arbor indicates a commitment to every resident of Prince George’s County and to making a change in the futures of our youth and adults.”

Arbor is one of the country’s principal providers of services for both the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) Programs.
