Urban League Director Appointed to Essex Vicinage

 
NEWARK, N.J. - Dec. 29, 2013 - PRLog -- Glenn Best, Director of Business Development for the Urban League of Essex County was recently appointed to the Essex Vicinage Advisory Committee on Minority Concerns (VACMC). The committee is charged with advising the Court on how the Judiciary, with respect to all minority groups, may best assure fairness, impartiality, equal access, and full partcipation and eliminate descrimination statewide at all levels and in all functions and capacities in dispute resolution, programs, support services, and administrations.

As a committee member, Best will advise the assignment judge about issues affecting minorities in the courts especially about eliminating barriers that might impede or deny court access to any minority group, including ethnic/racial minorities, disabled court users and individuals with limited English proficiency. The committee also recommends initiatives to promote equality, fairness and integrity in court programs and services which are of benefit to all court users, and reviews local efforts to implement recommendations of the standing Supreme Court Committee on Minority Concerns and its predecessor, the Supreme Court Task Force on Minority Concerns.
