FENG SHUI-ED TURKEY DAY, Tips for a Joyful, Successful and Abundant Thanksgiving

According to Marie, Feng Shui achieves this by balancing what are known as the five Chinese elements – wood, fire, earth, metal and water. These elements are present in every home, and when these elements are balanced, a complete sensory experience is created.

Here are some starter tips to jumpstart your Thanksgiving festivities:

•   The entrance of your home sets the tone for the gathering. It’s like an invitation. Decorate your entrance with holiday items like melodic bells and sparkling lights on the door to create excitement and celebration even before your guests enter.

•   Make sure your dining table is arranged in such a way that all the guests have enough personal space.

•   Bring out the china, crystal, silver, and all the other goodies you have been hiding in your cabinets and closets. Think of this Thanksgiving as the holiday you’ve been saving it for!

•   A lively seasonal centerpiece of fresh flowers, pumpkins, and gourds will energize the dining room and attract abundance. Orange flowers can be used to encourage conversation. Mums create a vibrant party atmosphere.

•   Add warmth and joy by placing unscented candles around the table.

•   The five elements also play out into food, tastes, and colors. Incorporating spicy, sweet, sour, salty, and bitter flavors into your dishes will add health and serenity to your family meal. Enjoy the aroma of holiday foods filling the air.

•   Offer guests a beverage and snack as soon as they arrive. Also, place arranged bowls of nuts, fresh fruit, plus pitchers of wine and water in the gathering area of your home. This represents prosperity by making sure your guests will be continually fed.

•   Infuse your gathering space with holiday tunes and other favorite music. According to the principals of Feng Shui, music and sound completely transform the energy in one’s body as well as one’s living space.

•   Encourage social activities after dinner: a board game, a puzzle, a card game, or a walk outside.  

•   And most importantly – allow yourself to be present to every moment, because most of all, Thanksgiving is about sharing these moments spent together!
