Geri King Returns With An Unexpected Twist For Her 4th Release

Sept. 2, 2008 - PRLog -- (LOS ANGELES, CA) International recording artist Geri King returns with the newest single “Running Away” her 4th Release.  For those familiar with the honey dipped vocals of this artist, you may be surprised to find that this single is quite different from her usual style of silky and sultry neo-soul.  This first single “Running Away” is a rock song, and unlike “My Life” from her previous album “Always” which was just slightly rock tinged, this is an all out rock song with a masterful performance by Geri.  This may take some of her fans aback because it is so different from her usual style but when asked why she decided to do a song so drastically different, she simply replied “Why not?  I try to keep myself diverse as far as songwriting and production so I decided to take myself out of my element as a vocalist and try something different.”  Geri continues saying, “It all started when my production company with Kimo Kaulani- Audio Blueprint was contacted by a publisher to write a rock song for Kelly Clarkson, we were told that everyone loved the song, but no one pulled the trigger.  So we pulled it!  I thought it was a great song and it deserved to be heard, the fact that it’s not in my genre, did not deter me because I saw it as a way to cross over to a new audience and expand my audience’s expectations of what I was capable of doing both as a composer, songwriter and vocalist.”

This high energy rock song grabs your attention from the very first strum.  Geri’s play on timing and phrasing is masterful.  Her performance is a raw sincerity that kicks you in the chest.  “Running Away” will be available September 30, 2008 though Khepera Records and is currently being serviced to radio.  Her full length CD not yet titled is slated for release in January 2009.  

Khepera Records is a new label that Geri formed with production partner Kimo Kaulani.  The duo has been very successful with their previous labels Nuendo Music Group which was based in New York, and Red Skye Records.
