Formed in early 1983 by guitar virtuoso Greg Davis, who had the idea of combining bluegrass with punk rock, he was joined by bass player Ron Botelho and drummer Hermann Senac. Annette Zilinskas, bass player for The Bangles, joined Blood on the Saddle in July of 1983 as co-lead vocalist, completing the original line-up of the band. Considered one of the most influential bands to come out of the Los Angeles Country Punk scene, the band's history was partially documented in the recent authorized biography of The Bangles and in John Doe and Tom DeSavia's 2019 book, More Fun in the New World. Blood on the Saddle has released eleven albums and is credited with laying the foundation of the Alternative Country and Rock genres in the 90s.
