Let's Finally Prosecute Apps Which Caused Dallas Shooting - Legal Expert

"Tracking apps no different than giving a hitman the location of their target" - ICE

WASHINGTON - Sept. 26, 2025 - PRLog -- Since ICE has reported that the Dallas shooter used apps designed to track ICE agents, isn't it time that Pam Bondi, Kristi Noem, and others followed through on promises they made to prosecute those behind these apps which have been the cause of so much harm  to ICE agents and others, asks public interest law professor John Banzhaf, who outlined how both criminal prosecutions and civil torts actions could be brought.

ICE's Marcos Charles [has just] said the suspect in the deadly Dallas shooting used ICE tracking apps. LINK  "It's no different than giving a hitman the location of their intended target, and this is exactly what we saw happen in Dallas yesterday."

Months ago, "Attorney General Pam Bondi has warned Aaron to 'watch out,' saying he may be prosecuted because the app threatens the lives of law enforcement officers.") [emphasis added].  LINK (https://www.ktvu.com/news/trump-administration-threatens-...)

Similarly, "Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said she is considering prosecuting not only the app developer but also at least one media agency that reported on the app." [emphasis added]. LINK (https://www.ktvu.com/news/trump-administration-threatens-prosecute-developer-ice-tracking-app)

And, even before the attacks on the ICE agents escalated, several members of Congress also called for the criminal prosecution of those who create and operate these apps, such as ICEBlock, which facilitate actions designed to attack ICE agents and prevent them from carrying out their assigned mission. Law Professor John Banzhaf - who has been called "a Driving Force Behind the Lawsuits That Have Cost Tobacco Companies Billions of Dollars," "Legal Academia's Instigator in Chief," "The Law Professor Who Masterminded Litigation Against the Tobacco Industry," a "King of Class Action Lawsuits," and an "Entrepreneur of Litigation, [and] a Trial Lawyer's Trial Lawyer" - provided a detailed legal analysis of how and why the current administration can and should bring both a criminal prosecution and a civil torts action against those who produce and operate these dangerous apps.

He just updated it today, Used to Target Killing at ICE; App Criminal Prosecution Likely * * * Expert Suggests Warning People About ICE Activity May Be A Federal Crime (http://prsync.com/george-washington-university/used-to-target-killing-at-ice-app-criminal-prosecution-likely----expert-suggests-warning-people-about-ice-activity-may-be-a-fede-4943544/), and it eerily echoes ICE's own analysis that using apps to target ICE agents - what a member of Congress called "a digital loophole for criminal aliens" - is "no different than giving a hitman the location of their intended target, and this is exactly what we saw happen in Dallas yesterday."
