Mike Field Shares the Stories Behind Nashland on The Joyce Aldrich Show

TORONTO - Sept. 8, 2025 - PRLog -- Canadian jazz trumpeter and composer Mike Field recently joined host Joyce Aldrich on The Joyce Aldrich Show to discuss his new album Nashland and the extraordinary stories that inspired its music. The interview is now available on YouTube and Spotify.

Recorded with his quintet, Nashland is a collection of seven original instrumental tracks shaped by Field's travels across the globe. On the program, he shared the colorful and often unexpected experiences that inspired several compositions:

• "Bad Lessons" — A disappointing trumpet lesson in New York City that became an unforgettable life experience.
• "Traffic Police" — A roadside stop in the Dominican Republic that turned into a comedy of negotiation.
• "Chicken, Cigars and Leche" — A month in Miami's Little Havana, alive with chickens, cigar shops, and Spanish-language vibrancy.
• Antarctica — A journey to the southernmost continent, where Field performed daily aboard ship and even played trumpet ashore.

"These experiences remind me how inspiration can come from anywhere," Field told Aldrich. "Every journey, whether frustrating, joyful, or unexpected, can lead to music."

Nashland debuted with a release concert at Reid's Distillery in Toronto earlier this year and will be followed by an international tour, including Germany in 2026. Its first single, "Bad Lessons," was released in late 2024 and has already resonated with listeners for its spirited sound.
