The Fibroid Pandemic Hosts 4th Annual RUN F.A.R. 5K July 26 in Atlanta

ATLANTA - July 19, 2025 - PRLog -- The Fibroid Pandemic announces its 4th annual RUN F.A.R. 5K Run/Walk on July 26, 2025, at Historic Grant Park (840 Cherokee Avenue SE, Atlanta, GA 30315).

Founded by Latoya Dwight, the organization addresses uterine fibroids affecting up to 70% of women worldwide. Black women are three times more likely to develop fibroids, often experiencing more severe symptoms and greater disease burden.

"This isn't just about a medical condition; it's about quality of life, empowerment, and advocating for ourselves," said Dwight, whose personal fibroid journey inspired the organization's creation. After being recommended for hysterectomy, she sought a second opinion and underwent uterine fibroid embolization, leading her to establish The Fibroid Pandemic.

Uterine fibroids are non-cancerous growths causing severe symptoms including heavy periods, pelvic pain, frequent urination, fatigue, and fertility challenges. Despite their prevalence, symptoms are often dismissed as "normal," leading to delayed diagnosis.

The annual RUN F.A.R. 5K has united thousands of participants, survivors, and allies while raising funds for fibroid research. Notable figures including Venus Williams, Beverly Johnson, and FKA Twigs have shared their fibroid experiences.

"Our message is clear: You are not alone," said Dwight. "We provide knowledge, connect individuals with trusted physicians, and foster supportive community."
