Debut Author Derek Amarillas Honors National Literacy Month With Global Book Donation Initiative

DALLAS - Sept. 25, 2025 - PRLog -- In celebration of National Literacy Month, debut author Derek Amarillas marked the success of his first children's book, Socko the Flamingo with Tennis Shoes, with a mission rooted in giving back. Amarillas launched an initiative to donate copies of his debut title to schools and libraries across communities, helping to inspire a love of reading and increase access to books worldwide.

"Books open doors and create opportunities," says Amarillas. "I wanted my debut to mean more than just sharing Socko's story. On September 6, Amarillas hosted a Literacy Month donation event at the Dallas Public Library, where he personally donated copies of Socko the Flamingo with Tennis Shoes to local schools and libraries. The event highlighted his commitment to ensuring every child has access to books that inspire imagination, courage, and self-expression.
