Follow on Google News | New Fantasy Novel "Hannah's Eyes" Weaves Magic and Mystery for Middle Grade ReadersIn the midst of a deadly feud in the fairy world, young Hannah discovers she has the power to stop the war...
By: Mary Ann Noe When Hannah steals her grumpy grandfather's glass eye, she is transported into Green World, a fairy world where Queen Tatiana and King Oberon are locked in a deadly feud, resulting in problems that could destroy both fairyland and the human world. Hannah manages to escape, and recruits her best friend, Meg, to go back, hoping the two of them together can fix everything. Before the girls can do more than talk with the queen, the king kidnaps Meg. Hannah must find, and then bargain with, the king to get Meg back before she can persuade the king and queen to reconcile. Will Hannah be able to save her best friend, as well as save both the fairy world and the human world? In this novel, Noe's third, she explores the themes of communication, forgiveness, family, and reconciliation, themes that weave their way through her prior books as well. What was her inspiration for Hannah's story? It was part family and part Shakespeare. "After our 10-year-old granddaughter and I went to see Midsummer Night's Dream," Noe explains, "I was inspired to write a book featuring a young girl transported into a fairy world, which is in chaos, just as in Shakespeare's play. In my novel, that young girl becomes the catalyst for regaining order." Mary Ann Noe is the author of the novels A Handful of Pearls and To Know Her. In addition to her novels, Mary Ann has published short fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. Her poem "Four Wars" was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Now retired from teaching high school English and psychology, Mary Ann has more time to write and lives in happy communion with nature in Wisconsin. "Friendship, families, and fantasy make this imaginative romp through time and space so warm and enjoyable. Three generations together make the story appealing from start to finish. Misbehaving fairies are fun reading. Don't miss it." -Cynthia Kempfer, Teacher, Master of Education For more information on Mary Ann Noe, visit maryannnoe.com.
