KidSpirit and Unity Productions Foundation Partner to Share Voices of Marginalized Youth

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - June 27, 2022 - PRLog -- KidSpirit (kidspiritonline.com), the world's only youth-led platform for building community through life's big questions, is proud to announce its new partnership with Unity Productions Foundation (UPF), a non-profit that works to create peace through the media, empower citizens with greater understanding, and nourish pluralism in America.

KidSpirit's website now features poetry created by participants in UPF's Unfold Your Own Myth program (upf.tv/unfold/), a series of workshops that empowers young people to heal through writing. In addition to publishing poetry on its website, in 2023, KidSpirit will publish a volume of poems especially selected from the body of work produced through Unfold Your Own Myth workshops, to represent the broader community of young people who are discovering the power of healing through the written word.

The Unfold Your Own Myth program uses the feature-length film Lamya's Poem (upf.tv/lamyas-poem/) to inspire young poets from refugee, immigrant, and Muslim communities. The film tells the story of a Syrian refugee girl who receives a book of poetry by the 13th-century poet Rumi, which becomes a magical gateway across time and space as she flees her country's civil war.

KidSpirit is a nonprofit magazine and community by and for 11-to-17-year-olds to engage each other about life's big questions in an open and inclusive spirit. Its mission is to promote mutual understanding among teenagers of all backgrounds and support their development into global citizens with strong inner grounding. Through a unique collaborative editing process, an international network of editors work together to decide on quarterly themes and create original articles, poetry, artwork, and video. With Editorial Boards across the United States and around the world, KidSpirit provides a critical outlet for teenagers everywhere to discover and highlight the essential humanity transcending divergent points of view.
