Follow on Google News | ![]() Teen Writers and Artists Celebrate Joy & Laughter in KidSpirit's Summer IssueBy: KidSpirit Each issue of KidSpirit revolves around a Big Question posed by the all-youth Editorial Board. This season, the editors ask, "Do we choose joy, or does it just happen?" In her response, a young writer from India wonders if perhaps "joy isn't a place we accidentally discover, but a path we choose to walk." Other pieces released today include an article on the role of humor in social justice movements, a reflection on the magic of one transformative friendship, an essay on the role of joy in Ukrainian culture, and a short story about making time for happiness during difficult times. Throughout the season, KidSpirit will continue to publish writing, poetry, and artwork by youth on this theme. In Features, writers cover the psychology and history of humor, as well as the joy women find in sports. The Interfaith Connections department will feature the perspective of a young contributor from Paraguay. The Fiction and Poetry departments will showcase more creative writing on the topic from lyrical young authors around the world. Each issue of KidSpirit features additional wisdom from one adult with expertise in the theme in a column called PerSpectives. This issue's entry will come from Ros Ben-Moshe, an internally recognized laughter, wellbeing, and positivity author and academic. KidSpirit is a unique forum for young people of all backgrounds and traditions to explore life's big questions in an open spirit.
