With over 15 years of experience engaging customers, building rapport and influencing decisions, Franklin has dedicated most of her professional career to roles in marketing, customer success and account management. In January 2017, she launched "The Global Giver" via social media, highlighting her domestic and international philanthropic efforts to effect change in education, women and youth empowerment, eldercare and homeless recovery. Franklin has also served on the board for the United Women In Business Foundation D.C. Chapter as co-vice president of Community Relations in 2020 and 2021. Franklin attended North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University with Shevaun McGlone, the creator and head of content for the publication. The two reconnected after Franklin's whirlwind travel schedule and career caught McGlone's attention. "Not only was Erica an amazing person to interview, she was transparent about the areas in her life that we, as women, try to sugarcoat and I appreciated that," said McGlone.
