May 19, 2022 - PRLog -- SINGAPORE – Park Hotel Group (https://www.parkhotelgroup.com/) operating some of the Top (https://www.parkhotelgroup.com/corporate-responsibility) Hotels in Asia (https://www.parkhotelgroup.com/corporate-responsibility), announced key updates on positively impacting the Planet through its action taken to achieve UN Sustainable Development Goals for a better and more sustainable future.

Through the Room For Trees initiative launched earlier this year where the Group will plant a tree for every booking made on its website (www.parkhotelgroup.com (https://www.parkhotelgroup.com/en?utm_source=phg-media-centre&utm_medium=website&utm_content=body-copy&utm_campaign=sustainbility-progress-22042021)), 3,663 mangroves will be produced in Biak Island, Indonesia. Park Hotel Group hopes to restore the mangrove forests and positively impact life on the land.

Indonesia has one of the most extensive mangroves in the world but over the last three decades, over 40% of mangrove forests were destroyed in the country, affecting lives and livelihoods that depended on it. Research has shown that mangroves are vital for the ecosystem and effective in the battle against climate change as they can absorb up to four times the carbon amount compared to a rainforest.

The Group's luxury resort Grand Park Kodhipparu, Maldives (https://www.parkhotelgroup.com/en/maldives?utm_source=phg...) is also launching its solar power system today. The photovoltaic panels in the resort will produce an estimated 478,080 kilowatt-hour (kWh) of energy per annum, saving up to 150,000 litres of diesel fuel each year which will reduce emissions of large amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. One of its flagship hotels Grand Park City Hall (https://www.parkhotelgroup.com/en/cityhall?utm_source=phg...) in Singapore similarly has solar panels installed on its rooftop, producing 66,300 kWh per annum.

Park Hotel Group's commitment to protecting the Planet and creating value for the People while operating Profitably is reflected across its portfolio of hotels and resorts, including coral planting and the opening of a glass bottle facility in Grand Park Kodhipparu, Maldives.
