By: The Cultured Professional - TCP Network Building off of Marquis Lupton's decade-long journalism career, the decision to launch The Cultured Professional, best known as "TCP Network" addresses the lack of diversity in their regional news stations. This Lancaster-native father noticed not only a void in diversity with their local news but also noticed a trend of negativity when it came to covering people of color, especially men. Inspired by media moguls such as Tyler Perry, and Byron Allen, Marquis wanted to bring a fresh voice, fresh perspective, and diversity to their regional news scene. Since early 2018, TCP continues to entertain tens of thousands of viewers/fans on a weekly basis. Their motto "Issa movement not a moment" embodies the vision of owners Marquis Lupton and William Way. Providing good content to people of color in Central Pennsylvania is our major goal, Lupton says. If we leave it up to our local news stations, we'll continue to see disparaging images of people of color. What TCP does, is provide an unfiltered look into the real lives of people of color in Central Pennsylvania, Way states. You'll hear more positive stories of people of color, instead of the doom and gloom, and 'beware of the scary black man' narratives we see almost daily on our news outlets.
