Bosco Tech Student Commended by National Merit Scholarship Program

ROSEMEAD, Calif. - Sept. 23, 2021 - PRLog -- Don Bosco Technical Institute (Bosco Tech) senior Aman Kumar has been named a semifinalist in the 67th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Kumar is one of approximately 16,000 students from across the country who earned the designation and now have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $30 million that will be offered next spring.

The semi-finalists represent less than 1 percent of all high-school seniors in the U.S. According to a press release from the National Merit Scholarship Program, about 95 percent of the semi-finalists will be named as finalists for the scholarship. Of those finalists, about half will win a scholarship.

Kumar, who is in Bosco Tech's Computer Science & Electrical Engineering program, recently completed a summer internship at The Boeing Company. Co-founder of the Tech's Techmen Tutoring peer program and ASB senior class and National Honor Society president, he also recently earned the Harvard Prize Book, an award given by the alumni of Harvard University to top-performing juniors and seniors in nearly 2,000 high schools from around the world.
