Urban Community provides space for SoFA Pocket Park
Presented by the San Jose Downtown Association, park will feature dog park, demonstration garden, and space for community
By: Urban Community LLC
The dog park, maintained by downtown's Property Based Improvement District (PBID), will feature artificial turf, a double-entry gate, plants in planters, outdoor furniture, and basic dog amenities. While the Demonstration Garden, operated and maintained by Veggielution, will feature raised planter beds, garden storage, farmstand, seating, and movable furniture. The farmstand will sell fresh fruit and vegetables and occasionally offer pop-up food facility events through their food truck and food carts.
"Providing a space for this pocket park is in line with our mission to bring people together to activate downtown San Jose in new and positive ways." said Urban Community principal, Jeff Arrillaga.
Urban Community has spent $225 million on properties in downtown San Jose, from St. James Park all the way to the SoFA District. Its highest profile acquisition, the historic Bank of Italy building, is in the middle of a full-scale renovation.
