"Cassius" story illustrates how a teen's challenging home life can affect self-esteem
Football family provides a needed lifeline in the eighth part of "Discovering Kindness" series
The title character in the eighth installment of Kevin J. Smith's Discovering Kindness short story series – produced in collaboration with writing partner Laura Sherman – finds that family is not necessarily limited to the people at home. A relationship that begins as a talent-finding mission by the football coach and his team transforms into something more.
The entire Discovering Kindness series (M&B Global Solutions Inc.) will be available in paperback and digital formats in time for Christmas.
Cassius story description
Cassius is walking proof that physical size and high intellect do not necessarily equate to an easy stroll through puberty. Strapped with the challenges of a dysfunctional home life and pressure from the neighborhood gang, Cassius would rather put his head down and simply survive. Positive reinforcement in the form of a supportive football team finally provides the self-conscious teen with his first glimpse of what success could look like. Can Cassius realize he can move beyond being a victim and take charge of his life?
Cassius is available as a free digital download on Amazon through November 25, 2020, on the Discovering Kindness series page: https://amzn.to/
