ARLINGTON, Va. - Aug. 27, 2020 - PRLog -- Cookology21 Professional Culinary School (Cookology21) announces the launch of its first virtual culinary program in English and Spanish. Curriculum will be taught on-site 30% of the time and via WebEx 70% of the time, with both daytime and evening course offerings. The company aims to equip up-and-coming culinary professionals with the tools and techniques they need to thrive in the industry. Cookology21 decided on its hybrid model to ensure compliance with COVID-19 safety guidelines without compromising the integrity of culinary skill development.

On-site classes take place 1-2 days per week for a few hours per day, while 70% of the program takes place at home via WebEx. The company offers payment plans and up to two years to complete the certificate program.

"Chef Instructors within the program felt that an all virtual program didn't make sense. The 1-2 days together gives students the feedback on recipes they're learning," states Maria Kopsidas, owner of Cookology21.

Cookology began its virtual course offerings with summer camps and classes throughout the summer. It then rolled out a variety of virtual events—ranging from birthday parties to corporate team buildings.

Like many businesses in 2020, the company's pivot came in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As such, class sizes are limited to six people, working under a 30-foot hood that guarantees excellent ventilation. With sufficient room to follow social distancing guidelines, all chefs and chef instructors wear masks and gloves during their time in the kitchen with no exceptions.

With businesses reopening amid lifting coronavirus restrictions, a number of restaurants are finding themselves short of quality staff and Cookology21 hopes to combat that.

"Our program's goal has always been to teach students culinary techniques that allow them to be proficient in any commercial kitchen," says Kopsidas. "Even though our culinary arts program is mostly virtual, what they need to learn now are the skills they will master in the future."

Courses begin October 2020. Cookolgy21 also offers virtual tours on Fridays to learn more about the program.
