Follow on Google News | The Mark Harvey Group's CD "A Rite for All Souls" is available from Noteworthy Sheet MusicGround-breaking musicians Peter H. Bloom and Mark Harvey to be interviewed in a live-stream Zoom event on Sunday, August 9, 2020.
On October 31, 1971, in the midst of a turbulent period in American history, The Mark Harvey Group gave a trailblazing concert—A Rite for All Souls—in the sanctuary of Boston's historic Old West Church. The event was a bold aural theatre production, presented by ensemble members Mark Harvey (brass) and Peter H. Bloom (woodwinds), along with their percussion colleagues Craig Ellis and Michael Standish, both now deceased. The long-lost recording of that performance was recently rediscovered and released as a 2-CD set last month on the Americas Musicworks label (Rebecca DeLamotte, managing director). The recording has received outstanding reviews from The New York City Jazz Record, All About Jazz, The Boston Globe, and The Vinyl District, among others. The A Rite for All Souls 2-CD set is distributed by Noteworthy Sheet Music. To order your copy, or to learn more about the 1971 concert, watch a 2-minute video preview of the CD, and read reviews of the recording, please visit https://www.noteworthysheetmusic.com/ On Sunday, August 9, 2020 at 7 PM, jazz writer Bob Blumenthal will interview ground-breaking musicians Mark Harvey and Peter H.
