Follow on Google News | ![]() Alten Construction begins upgrades at Burlingame Intermediate SchoolThe renovation includes remodeling a music room, auditorium restrooms, outdoor learning areas, walkways and paths of travel between classroom buildings and 5 classroom buildings with 20 classrooms, totaling 35,000 square feet. Alten Construction is working closely with Hamilton and Aitken Architects. Once complete, the 160,000-square- "The Burlingame School District is fortunate to be working with Alten Construction again," said Tim Ryan, director of facilities for the Burlingame School District. "In normal times, their professionalism set them apart. During these extremely trying times of construction during COVID-19, Alten Construction has really stepped up. Their team provides honest dialogue about the unknowns that building in this environment could cause, such as lead time, staffing and material availability in constant flux. We have a great partner in Alten Construction to help us put this project together. Many contractors would have thrown their arms up, but Alten Construction's team rolls up their sleeves and looks for solutions – not change orders. We have a long 16 months ahead and look forward to a strong finish." The $11.5 million project is slated for completion in summer 2021. During this time, the campus will remain active during construction. Located at 1715 Quesada Way in Burlingame, the school enrolls about 1,088 students. End
