Doctor Wilfred Van Gorp discusses the psychological toll on First Responders from Covid-19

NEW YORK - May 6, 2020 - PRLog -- As first responders, across the nation, struggle with the spread of Covid-19, neuropsychologist Wilfred Van Gorp speaks about the toll it has taken on them.

Dr.Van Gorp is a neuropsychologist, certified by the American Board of Psychologists, with decades of experiences. During his career, he counseled first responders who were on the scene of the 9/11 attacks, as well as doctors on the front lines of the AIDS epidemic.

Dr. Van Gorp told the Oregonian,  "COVID-19 is quite different from 9/11. This is not a one-time incident. It's ongoing. People are dropping like flies. The healthcare workers are seeing their patients die, they're going into quarantine and isolation believing they may be infected."

Dr.Van Gorp also goes onto say that the vast amounts of death that first responders are seeing could lead to post traumatic stress disorder.
