Doctor Wilfred Van Gorp informs about coping mechanism during the Coronavirus pandemic

NEW YORK - April 28, 2020 - PRLog -- Neuropsychologist Wilfred Van Gorp has been advising his patients and people with mental health challenges about how to cope with it as many Americans learn how to manage their mental wellbeing, during self-isolation.

In an opinion editorial in the New York Daily News, Dr. Van Gorp provides some instruction on how to cope through this difficult time.

"It is crucial that people understand there are productive ways to manage and confront the stress and anguish many of us are feeling," he wrote. "We may not be able to control COVID-19 or predict the path of the illness, but we can organize our lives and our routines in a way that helps lessen and manage the personal stress."

Much of the stress caused by this pandemic is due to a lack on control, he said. Dr. Van Gorp advises patients to establish a routine, stay in touch with friends and loved ones, try to stay physically active, among other tips.
