By: Yours Humanly Munachi Udenyi, 17, of Yorktown, Virginia (formerly of Hercules, California), received the award for the work she performed through Helping Hands, a program she founded in partnership with the Hercules Library to tutor and mentor low income students of color. The program benefited 20 students, who spent the summer of 2019 being tutored by accomplished high school student volunteers. Alexandra Walker, 7, of Euclid, Ohio, received the award for the work she does through her charity, Alex's Fluffy Buddies, which provides soft, comforting stuffed animals to children enduring hospital stays, temporary housing, or other crisis situations. She has raised more than $25,000 and delivered more than 2,000 fluffy buddies to children in need. Jahkil Jackson, 11, of Chicago, Illinois, received the award for raising awareness about homelessness through Project I Am, a nonprofit he founded to provide Blessing Bags filled with personal hygiene and convenience items that help those in need on a daily basis. He has helped more than 25,000 men, women, and children nationally and around the world. Harry and Heath Bennett, 14 and 10, of Malden, Massachusetts, received the award for the work they perform through Bennett Brothers Balm. Wanting to help a friend who was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, the brothers founded their nonprofit to manufacture and sell soothing lip and skin balms with 100% of the proceeds going toward cancer research. In addition to raising more than $35,000, they are raising awareness about the importance of pediatric cancer research and funding. "We commend these young people for their compassion and hard work, and for being the kind of people who think of others before self," says Yours Humanly Founder & CEO Sunny Singh. Award recipients receive a personalized certificate and medal, and are profiled on the Yours Humanly website and through social media.
